Eminem's "Lose Yourself" In American Sign Language Is Wonderful

Not since Hurricane Sandy brought Mayor Bloomberg's expressive American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter Lydia Callis to the forefront of our attention has ASL received such a wonderfully impassioned showcase... until now. Be prepared to be inspired, and entertained, by a woman named Shelby Mitchusson, who recently posted a fantastic video on YouTube of herself performing Eminem's Oscar-winning 2002 hit "Lose Yourself" in American Sign Language.

Mitchusson, who has worked as a sign language interpreter in the past, recorded herself passionately signing the lyrics to the Eminem hit in front of a blank wall, channeling a bit of Marshall Mathers' attitude with a side-to-side sway and strong facial expressions. And while sign language performances of popular songs have certainly been done before (here's a fun version of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off," for example), rarely have they been this fiercely watchable. Thankfully, it looks like Mitchusson is working on a few more gems. "I am going to upload more videos soon," the Austin-native writes on her YouTube page. "I have a deep love for interpreting music and would love to share more as I am always interpreting music."
